Kameras überall

Die Organisation Witness hat einen lesenswerten Bericht veröffentlicht: „Kameras überall: Aktuelle Herausforderungen und Chancen im Bereich Menschenrecht, Video und Technologie“ (“Cameras Everywhere: Current Challenges and Opportunities at the Intersection of Human Rights, Video and Technology”).

Da Handys, Videos und das Internet eine immer bedeutendere Rolle für Dokumentationen beim Einsatz für die Menschenrechte spielen, wie man es im „arabischen Frühling“ beobachten konnte, möchte dieser Bericht dazu beitragen, dass wir Videos effektiv, sicher und ethisch nutzen. Hier kann man den Bericht online lesen oder herunterladen.

Er beschäftigt sich vor allem mit der Beantwortung folgender Fragen :

• As more people film and take a stand on camera against human rights violations, how can we protect victims and witnesses to ensure informed consent as much as possible?
• As more footage circulates from human rights crises around the world, how does powerful footage reach audiences in a way that makes sense and moves them to action?
• How can we trust the authenticity of the footage, if taken by a non-traditional source?

Verfasst wurde das Dokument von der Organisation Witness in Zusammenarbeit mit mehr als 40 Experten wie z.B. der Europaabgeordneten Marietje Schaake, Bob Boorstin (Google), Danah Boyd (Microsoft Research), Steve Grove (YouTube News & Politics) und Joi Ito (Media Lab, MIT).
